Universiade torch in Benevento on Monday

To leave at 7 PM from Teatro Romano for 3-km tour

(ANSA) - Naples, June 23 - The torch for the Summer Universiade 2019 will arrive in Benevento on Monday. The departure is scheduled for 7 PM from Teatro Romano for a historic tour of almost 3 kilometres. The first torchbearer, volleyball player Marianna Iadarola, will alternate with 8 other athletes: former boxer Domenico Meccariello, rugby players Alessandro Valente and Giovanni D'Onofrio, international race walking champion Teodorico Caporaso, Italian long-jump champion Marco Tremigliozzi, footballer Alessandro Bruno, and European fencing champion Francesca Boscarelli. The ninth and final section, to the Arco di Traiano, will be made by Rossana Pasquino, European champion of integrated fencing.
    Welcoming the torch will be local institutions and the Naples 2019 organising committee. Benevento and the province will be hosting the football matches at the Ciro Vigorito stadium, volleyball at PalaTedeschi, and skeet shooting in the ASD Tiro facilities in Volo Zaino di Durazzano.
    Among the cultural initiatives that Benevento will be offering as part of the Universiade on July 4 - against Teatro Romano as a backdrop - a music performance with songs by Mogol and Lucio Battisti played by the Orchestra Sinfonica of the Benevento conservatory. On July 10 there will be events on history and attractions of the territory in collaboration with "Sannio Falanghina Città del Vino"
