Universiade: Playground to be built in Caserta neighbourhood

Work to start at weekend

(ANSA) - Caserta, June 19 - Caserta Mayor Carlo Marino said work will start this weekend to build a playground in the Parco Aranci neighbourhood on the outskirts of Caserta as part of a collaboration agreement between Scabec, the region of Campania's in-house cultural heritage services provider; and the City of Caserta, as part of the upcoming 2019 Summer Universiade.
"An outdoor basketball court will be built on land facing the parish church of Maria SS del Carmine e Nome di Maria, and will be done by the end of the month, in time for a tournament that will involve neighbourhood children and adolescents, as well as associations and scouts," Marino said.
In the parish's theatre area, a big-screen TV will be installed for viewing Universiade events - which will also take place in Caserta - that will be broadcast by local television stations across Campania.
"The system in the theatre space will stay with the parish after the Universiade and will be available for those who frequent the parish, and the playground will be a shared asset for the neighbourhood community," Marino said.
