Filippo Inzaghi has been sacked as Bologna coach following a 4-0 home drubbing by Frosinone and is set to be replaced by Serb coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, sources close to the club said Monday.
An official announcement is expected soon, they said.
Under Inzaghi Bologna got 14 points in 21 games and are third last in Serie A, three points below Empoli and four behind Udinese.
Frosinone are on 13 and bottom club Chievo, docked three at the start of the season for financial irregularities, on eight.
The 4-0 home defeat to Frosinone was the final straw for Bologna with President Joey Saputo going to the Press room after the game and calling the team "pathetic." He also met with the fans who were protesting outside the Stadio Dall'Ara after a Serie A season with two wins, eight draws and 11 defeats.
It is a return to Bologna for Mihajlovic, as this was his first senior management job from November 2008 to April 2009.
The record was not encouraging, winning four games, drawing eight and losing 10.
The Serbian went on to lead Catania, Fiorentina, the Serbia national team, Sampdoria, Milan and Torino.
He signed for Sporting CP in June, but never actually started work, as there was an internal coup to bring in a new president, who decided on a different tactician.
