Democratic Party (PD) leader
Matteo Renzi said Tuesday that Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC)
President Carlo Tavecchio and Italy coach Gian Piero Ventura
must reflect after the Azzurri failed to qualify for the World
Cup.
"The 'historic' nature of last night means the soccer
movement must reflect, President Tavecchio and coach Ventura
first and foremost," the ex-premier said in his Enews news
letter.
"Soccer in Italy needs to be rebuilt from scratch like never
before, starting with how we parents behave when we are in the
stands for youth matches up to the live television broadcasts
and the promotion of Italian football abroad.
"Not taking part in the Russia World Cup is an enormous slap.
"Let's use it to help everyone change radically at once".
