The goalkeeper of non-league
side Barletta was attacked last night after a string of poor
performances culminated in a Puglian 'derby' defeat to Vigor
Trani, sources aid Wednesday.
Luigi Moschetto was beaten up not far from his home, the
sources said, suffering swelling around an eye and other
bruises.
He was said to be in a state of shock and had had a brace
fitted to his neck.
The club, whose full name is ASD Barletta 1922, strongly
criticised the incident and voiced the hope that "the
perpetrators will swiftly be brought to justice".
Barletta Mayor Pasquale Cascella deplored the attack and said
"full light must be shed on this regrettable incident".
Barletta is a town in Puglia close to Trani.
