Evergreen AS Roma legend
Francesco Totti turns 40 on Tuesday.
Despite his age, the former Italy forward continues to
serve up sumptuous performances and he notched his 250th Serie A
goal in his side's 3-1 defeat at Torino on Sunday.
In total, the 2006 World Cup winner has scored 305 goals
in 762 appearance in all competitions for Roma, plus nine goals
for the national team.
The born-and-bred Roman has only ever played for the team
he supported as a child.
On Monday he tried to smooth over a row that erupted when
his wife, TV presenter Ilary Blasi, blasted the club's coach
Luciano Spalletti as a "little man".
Spalletti has come under heavy fire from Roma fans for
giving limited playing time to Totti.
"Ilary's words show me even more that a woman who loves
you absorbs the difficulties of her husband," he said.
"But today I want to stress that there is total harmony
with (Chairman James) Pallotta and with Spalletti.
"I have great respect for the coach and an honest
relationship with the chairman.
"We are lined up for the same objective - the good of
Roma".
Totti is set to celebrate with a big party at the Rome
castle where he had his wedding reception in 2005.
Spalletti is among those who are set to attend.
