A nine-man AS Roma crashed out
of the Champions League with a 3-0 home defeat in a play-off
second leg against FC Porto Wednesday night.
Roma only needed a scoreless draw to advance as they drew
the first leg in Portugal 1-1.
The Giallorossi had Emerson and Daniele De Rossi - playing
for the first time in a major match as centre back - sent off.
"This is going to be hard to swallow," said coach Luciano
Spalletti.
Not being in the Champions League, in skipper Francesco
Totti's last season with the club, is set to cost Roma around 35
million euros, Italian media said.
