Niccolò Campriani on
Friday placed seventh in the men's 50-meter rifle prone shooting
final at the Rio Olympics, after fellow national Marco De Nicolo
who placed sixth.
Campriani won a gold medal at the 10-meter air rifle
competition on August 8.
He explained his relatively poor showing by saying he was
on an "emotional roller-coaster" from watching his girlfriend,
fellow national and 2012 Olympian Petra Zublasing, come fourth
in a competition yesterday.
"After the emotions I went through there, I had no defences
left today against negative thoughts".
Fellow teammate De Nicolo said "one always wants more, but
I am extremely satisfied".
