France midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia is joining Inter Milan from Monaco after the Nerazzurri won a bidding war with cross-city rival AC Milan. Kondogbia is expected to be one of several new arrivals at Inter in the closed season after a disappointing season in which Roberto Mancini's side finished eighth in Serie A. The 22-year-old France international is in Milan for a medical after the two clubs agreed a fee, reported to be 35 million euros. Kondogbia, who had been linked with several other clubs, including Manchester City and Arsenal, is thought to have agreed a five-year deal with Inter. He joined Monaco from Spanish side Sevilla in August 2013 and has made 49 appearances for them. Kondogbia played in both legs of the Champions League last 16 away-goals victory over Arsenal last season, and scored in a 3-1 first-leg win at the Emirates.
The move is another disappointment for Milan, who also look to have lost the battle to sign Porto's Colombian forward Jackson Martinez, who is tipped to go to Atletico Madrid.
Croatia forward Mario Mandzukic, meanwhile, vowed to fight for Juventus on Monday, when he completed a medical for his move to the Serie A champions from Atletico. The Turin giants have drafted in Mandzukic for a transfer fee of around 18 million euros with Argentina forward Carlos Tevez set to return to his homeland to play for his first side, Boca Juniors.
"Juve fans, you can be certain that I'll do my best," Mandzukic said in a video posted on Juve's website.
"I've played in Turin twice. It's very beautiful and I like it.
"I hope I settle down well because it's my new home. I know Juventus have great fans and I'm happy about that. I've always given my all for all of the teams I've played for and I'll fight for my new colours. Mandzukic, 29, scored 12 goals from 27 league starts for Atletico last term.
Before that, he found the net 33 times in 54 league games over two years at Bayern Munich, where he helped the Bavarians to a Champions League title in 2013.
He has 60 caps and 19 goals for his country.
Fiorentina are presenting Paulo Sousa as their new coach on Monday. The 44-year-old Portuguese replaces Vincenzo Montella, who was sacked earlier this month after relations with the Florence club's management broke down. The much-travelled Sousa recently left Swiss side Basel. He has also coached Maccabi Tel Aviv, Queens Park Rangers, Swansea City and Leicester City. As a player, the former Portugal midfielder won the Champions League with Juventus and Borussia Dortmund. Former Italy forward Montella led the Florence club to three consecutive fourth-place finishes in Serie A after taking over in 2012, as well as taking them to the Italian Cup final last year and the Europa League semi-finals in the season just ended. Montella annoyed Fiorentina by allegedly failing to firmly commit to the club, after being linked to other sides.
