The firecracker that exploded at Sunday's Serie A derby between leaders Juventus and Torino, injuring 10 Torino fans, may have belonged to the injured fans, police suspect after viewing video footage of the incident. Initially it had been suspected that Juventus fans had thrown the banger into a Torino section of the ground. The injured fans may have assembled the firecracker inside Turin's Stadio Olimpico, ANSA sources said after police looked at video evidence following the opening of a criminal probe. Sunday's Serie A fixtures were marred with violence. Before the Turin game, which Torino won 2-1 for their first derby win in 20 years, the Juventus team bus was damaged after Torino fans hit, kicked and threw objects including stones at it.
Atalanta's Argentine forward German Denis, meanwhile, burst into Empoli's changing room at the end of a 2-2 home draw in Bergamo on Sunday and punched in the face one of the visitors' defenders, Lorenzo Tonelli.
Atalanta General Manager Pierpaolo Marino said Denis, who scored Atalanta's injury-time equaliser, was provoked by death threats against his family.
