Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman
from the Netherlands is to undergo further surgery on his left
knee, the football team announced Thursday.
Medical examinations "have shown the presence of a mass of
fibrous tissue that (doctors) recommend removing using
arthroscopy," AS Roma said in a statement.
"The procedure will be carried out tomorrow in Amsterdam,"
the statement concluded.
"It's nothing serious," Strootman tweeted.
The Dutch player underwent initial surgery after damaging
the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the first
half of Roma's 1-0 defeat to Napoli last March.
The 24-year-old consequently missed the rest of the
2013-2014 season and only returned to the field in December
before suffering the latest setback.
