Italian Soccer Federation
(FICG) President Carlo Tavecchio said Monday that the short
training camps national team coach Antonio Conte wants to
increase the contact he has with his players will go ahead
despite skepticism from Juventus.
Last week Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri said having
such camps outside the time already set aside in the soccer
calendar for international games was "far-fetched".
But Tavecchio said Monday he was backing Conte's demands.
"We'll hold the training camps regardless," Tavecchio
said. "The federation can't ignore what the coach is asking
for".
Tavecchio also stressed, however, that clubs that refuse
to send their players to the camps would not be punished.
