Cesare Prandelli's annus
horribilis continued on Thursday when he was sacked by Turkish
side Galatasaray.
Prandelli took over the Istanbul team after quitting as
Italy coach following the Azzurri's disappointing group-stage
exit at the World Cup in Brazil.
Galatasaray gave the 57-year-old his marching orders
following Wednesday's 2-0 defeat to Anderlecht in the Champions
League, a result that means they are sure to finish bottom of
Group D and exit European competition even though there is still
one game to play.
Galatasaray are currently third in the Turkish top flight
with 19 points from 10 games, one point behind their Istanbul
rivals Besiktas and Fenerbahce.
Turkish media reported that Hamzaolu Hamza, current
assistant to Turkey coach Fatih Terim, will replace Prandelli.
