(See related) The father of Juventus forward Carlos Tevez was reportedly released by kidnappers after his family paid a ransom, local media said Tuesday. Earlier, Tevez was planning to fly back to his Argentina homeland amid reports of the kidnapping of Juan Carlos Cabral. Cabral is Tevez's biological father but the 30-year-old forward carries the surname of his uncle, who brought him up.
Media reports about the kidnapping have conflicted throughout the day, but it appeared that Cabral was held up at about 07:00 local time while in his car.
Initially, members of the Tevez family were reported as saying it was a simple robbery - the car was found a few hours later by police.
Later came reports that Cabral had been the victim of the "flash" kidnapping and had been released.
The most recent reports suggested robbers decided to take him hostage after recognising him.
The Turin club said that Tevez cancelled his plans to fly back to Argentina.
