Salini Genoa bridge plan in 12 mts (4)

Italferr to design it from Piano idea

(ANSA) - Rome, November 26 - A plan to build a new bridge in Genoa presented by Salini Impregilo alongside Fincantieri with Italferr designing will take 12 months to complete and cost just 200 million euros, Salini said Monday.
Italferr, a unit of Ferrovie dello Stato rail group, will design the bridge from an idea by starchitect Renzo Piano, Salini said.
Genoa needs a new bridge after the Morandi Bridge collapsed August 14 killing 43 people.
Shipbuilder Fincantieri and the Salini Impregilo engineering and construction group on Monday presented plans to build the new road bridge in Genoa.
"There are two of us, it's us and Salini Impregilo together with the best Italian companies that will collaborate with us," said Fincantieri CEO Giuseppe Bono.
Asked if Fincantieri would be the consortium leader, Bono replied: "There are two of us, we are two consortium leaders".
In all, 10 separate bidders presented their plans on Monday, and the selection process will now begin.
