The use of drones to monitor air
pollution is on the agenda at the upcoming 'Drones and remote
sensing' conference in Rome on January 20, organisers said
Monday.
Drones would complement conventional urban monitoring units
and would be especially suitable for monitoring emissions from
factory chimneys, industrial plants and rubbish dumps.
'Drones and remote sensing' is part of the series Roma
Drone Conference 2015-16 and is sponsored by the environment
ministry and civil aviation authority ENAC.
Numerous types of drones made by Italian companies are to
be presented over the course of the conference series.
The problem of air pollution came to the fore before
Christmas with coarse particle levels well above legal limits in
several cities across the country including Milan, Rome and
Naples.
