Centre-left Democratic Party (PD)
and Radical Party MP Roberto Giachetti was admitted to hospital
Monday on the 83rd hour of a hunger strike against the
threatened closure of Radio Radicale.
Giachetti, 58, a former Rome mayoral candidate, is protesting
government plans to withdraw funding for Radio Radicale's
coverage of parliamentary debates.
He was admitted after doctors found "clinical signs of
dehydration and hypotension with marked astheny".
