A town councillor for the
League at Amelia near Terni in Umbria was expelled from the
anti-migrant party Friday after posting sexist comments against
singer Emma Marrone after she urged politicians to open Italy's
ports to migrants.
"You'd do well to open your thighs and get paid, for
example," said Massimiliamo Galli after the singer shouted
"open the ports" from the stage at a recent concert.
League leader Matteo Salvini, the deputy premier and interior
minister, has closed Italy's ports to NGO migrant rescue ships.
"The Umbria League disassociates itself from the sexist
comment expressed by the Amelia town councillor," regional
secretary Virginio Caparvi said, announcing the "irrevocable"
expulsion of galli.
