Interior Minister Matteo
Salvini said Wednesday he would not have had his photo taken
with AC Milan ultra leader and convicted drug pusher Luca Lucci
if he had known of the fan chief's conviction.
"It was the first time I had met him," said the deputy
premier and avid Milan fan, who stressed that "I have my photo
taken with hundreds of people every day".
He said he could not be expected to ask all of them if they
had a criminal record.
Salvini had been criticised for first shrugging off criticism
of the case by saying he was "a man probed among others probed",
unaware that Lucci had been convicted and not merely placed
under investigation.
Salvini was placed under investigation for alleged kidnapping
in a rescued migrants standoff with the EU.
