Premier Giuseppe Conte stressed
the importance of the government's plans to introduce a
'citizenship wage' basic income for jobseekers and to cut
extremely high State pensions during a meeting with trade unions
on Monday.
"The citizenship wage is a reform that makes me proud to be
premier," Conte said at the meeting, according to sources.
"It's a fundamental social-policy measure.
"We want to intervene with regards to the 'golden pensions.
"Doing so is an act of social fairness".
He also commented on the plan for a 'fiscal peace' to help
people to resolve disputes with the tax authorities.
"Our goal is to have a fiscal pact with the citizens. A real
alliance," he said, according to the sources.
"We won't be tolerant of evasion. Insisting on rigor benefits
the whole community".
