Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said Monday that he was proposing the introduction a new system under which reports of stalking and violence on women would be given 'red-rating' priority status. "At the earliest cabinet meeting possible I will present an intervention for women to be defended with a red rating in (investigating) magistrates' probes so that reports of stalking and violence on women do not end up in last place," Salvini said.
There has been a spate of shocking femicides - cases in which women are murdered, usually by their current or former partners - in Italy in recent years.
