One of the main figures in the
Capital Mafia Rome corruption case, former national migrant
coordination panel member Luca Odevaine, on Tuesday
plea-bargained a six-month sentence on graft in services for the
asylum seeker centre (CARA) at Mineo near Catania from 2011 to
2014.
Odevaine was found guilty of fraud and contract-rigging,
judicial sources said.
This, when added to a previous sentence, means Odevaine will
have to serve total jail time of three years and two months.
Odevaine is one of the three top figures in the Capital Mafia
case, which concerns a criminal gang that muscled into lucrative
city contracts.
The two ringleaders are former rightist terrorist and
ex-gangster Massimo Carminati and former leftwing cooperatives
chief Salvatore Buzzi.
