It is "difficult to foresee
the consequences" of the No victory in Italy's Constitutional
reform referendum and Premier Matteo Renzi's resignation,
European Parliament President Martin Schulz told ANSA Monday,
voicing the hope that political stability would continue in
Italy and that President Sergio Mattarella "finds a solution to
stabilise the country". Schulz spoke of an "emotional vote" and
observed that the reasons for such a clear win for the No
campaign might be rooted in a debate that was "controversial in
all political parties".
