The populist wave that has
fuelled Brexit, Donald Trump's win and a surge for rightist
parties across Europe now threatens to end the Italian
government, the New York Times said Friday ahead of Sunday's
crunch Constitutional reform referendum.
"The populist wave is now threatening to crush (Renzi) and
plunge Italy into a political crisis when the European Union is
already reeling," it said.
"Italy is potentially the next domino to fall, partly because
of the disillusionment of young voters
The Wall Street Journal also said the future of Renzi and his
government would depend on the outcome of the referendum.
