(ANSAmed) - Rome, December 1 - British Foreign Secretary
Boris Johnson said Thursday that countries on the
Mediterranean's southern rim do not have "leadership strong
enough to overcome being Sunni or Shiite, to reach out to the
other side and work for the nation".
Addressing the Med 2016 forum in Rome, Johnson said:
"Leadership is lacking with a vision that can unify people from
different groups to make a nation".
On the contrary, he said, the region saw "many politicians
exploiting religion, distorting its value, to achieve their
political goals".
