Ex-Sardinia governor Ugo
Cappellacci on Wednesday got two and a half years in jail for
the bankruptcy of Cagliari-based paint company Sept Italia which
went belly up in 2010. Cappellacci is a member of ex-premier
Silvio Berlusconi's centre-right Forza Italia (FI) party. The
mayor of the Sardinian town of Carloforte, Marco Simeone, was
sentenced to nine years in jail and also got a life ban from
holding public office. Corruption scandals have hit all parts of
the political spectrum in recent years.
