Salvatore Tutino, the
magistrate who was reportedly in line to become Rome Mayor
Virginia Raggi's new budget chief, said Tuesday that he no
longer wants the job.
"I'm pulling out," Tutino told ANSA.
"I've been on the rack for 20 days. I'm leaving because of
the climate inside the party that is meant to support the Rome
executive.
"Even people motivated by good intentions, and serious
people like Raggi, cannot do much if they are not put in the
best conditions to do so," added the Audit Court magistrate,
whose possible nomination was criticised from some within
Raggi's anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S).
Raggi, who was elected Rome's first woman mayor in June,
has come under heavy fire over the fact that the post is still
vacant following a reversal in the appointment of Raffaele De
Dominicis and the resignation of Marcello Minenna.
