Comedian-turned-politician
Beppe Grillo said Monday an online vote on expulsion from his
5-Star Movement (M5S) will be held starting tomorrow.
"A vote will commence tomorrow to allow all M5S supporters
to decide if and what changes should be made to the Movement's
Non-Statute and Regulations," Grillo wrote on his popular blog.
The rank and file will be asked to indicate what they think
constitutes sanctionable conduct, what sanctions should be used
in what cases, and whether the decision to sanction a member
should be up to a panel of spokespeople or to Beppe Grillo
himself.
Supporters will be asked if they want to leave the rules on
expulsion as is, or if they want to adopt a new rule.
Currently the M5S code says members are liable to
expulsion, to being recalled, and to being suspended up to 12
months.
The vote will close October 26, Grillo wrote.
