Finance and Carabinieri on
Tuesday executed arrested warrants for 20 people in relation to
a probe into corruption in public trash-management contracts
worth millions, including the head of the Caserta provincial
government, Angelo Di Costanzo, sources said.
The alleged wrongdoing relates to when Di Costanzo was
mayor of the town of Alvignano, in the southern region of
Campania.
The contracts in question were for trash management in
various municipalities in the province of Caserta.
Several local politicians and businessman were arrested
and a total of 35 people are under investigation.
