Italy's Audit Court on Friday said
it nurtured "perplexities" about the role State lender Cassa
Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) had played in recent financial rescue
operations for several Italian banks and for the ILVA steel
works in Taranto. It said was concerned about the compatibility
with the CDP's statute and about the size of the funding
involved. It referred to the fund used for Banca Etruria in 2015
and the recently created Atante fund that has been deployed for
the Banco Popolare di Vicenza and Veneto Banca in addition to
the ILVA intervention.
