The Italian government on Wednesday
asked for work to be sped up on a media funding law.
The law contains regulations on public broadcaster RAI
concessions that have expired.
As recently as Tuesday, the law was not expected to hit the
Senate floor prior to the summer recess after a Senate
constitutional affairs committee made some amendments, requiring
the new version to go back to the Lower House for another
reading.
Parliamentary party whips said Wednesday that the draft law
was likely to be debated by the Senate by the end of next week
and thus prior to the summer recess.
