(ANSAmed) - Geneva, May 31 - More than 200,000 migrants and
refugees have arrived by sea in Europe since the start of 2016,
the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
(UNHCR) said Tuesday. In all, it said, some 203,981 people had
made the voyage. Of these, almost three quarters came from
Turkey to Greece before the end of March and 46,714 came to
Italy, almost the same number as last year. Some 2,119 people
have died crossing from North Africa to Italy this year. Boats
leaving Libya are fuller than those that had left Turkey for
Greece, with often over 600 people on board.
