Premier Matteo Renzi said in his
State of the European Union address Friday that shutting down EU
borders would only mean locking Islamist terrorists in. "They
were born and bred in our home," he said. "International
terrorism has struck at the heart of Europe using local killers,
who were born in the same hospitals our children were born in".
Renzi added that "either we recover culture as an element of
identity or we lose this challenge".
