Finance police arrested Lodi Mayor
Simone Uggetti, a member of Premier Matteo Renzi's centre-left
Democratic Party (PD), on Tuesday for alleged bid rigging on
tenders for public pools, ANSA sources said.
A lawyer in Lodi, in the northern region of Lombardy, was
also arrested in the investigation and police seized documents
from city hall.
Uggetti, 42, was elected in June 2013 with 53.62% of the
vote.
From 2005-2013 he served as assessor for the environment,
urban planning, sustainable transport and productive activities
in the two Lodi administrations led by Lorenzo Guerini, who is
new the deputy secretary of the PD.
He was a Lodi city councillor from 1995-2005.
