Takes more than ECB to drive recovery

Must rekindle domestic demand says EP president

(ANSA) - Brussels, March 10 - European Parliament President Martin Schulz told ANSA on Thursday that it will take more than European Central Bank (ECB) measures to drive the eurozone economy back into full recovery.
"I admire European Central Bank (ECB) President Mario Draghi, but lawmakers can't leave it up to the ECB alone to should the responsibility for economic recovery," he said.
"In addition, the ECB doesn't have all the tools to reach a full recovery," Schulz said.
"We are a community of 500 million people. We have the biggest single market in the world. Now we need to rekindle internal demand and not be dependent on the economic fortunes of volatile emerging markets".
