Six in 10 employee contracts expired

Up from 39.1% in December

(ANSA) - Rome, February 26 - The work contracts of more than six out of 10 employees in both the private and the public sector in the national economy expired in January, ISTAT national statistics bureau said Friday.
    The 62.6% figure was a sharp rise compared to 39.1% in December, ISTAT said.
    The number of private-sector employees with expired contracts more than doubled in a month - from 21.3% in December to 51.7% in January - and it also rose compared to 44.4% in January last year, ISTAT said.
