Surrogate motherhood is
"ultraprostitution', Health Minister Beatrice Lorenzin said
Wednedsay, reiterating her opposition to a bill on civil unions
for same-sex partners that envisages the adoption by one partner
of the biological child of the other. Lorenzin, a member of the
New Centre Right (NCD) party, said "we have reached
ultraprostitution, and all attempts at regulating it must be
denounced without hypocrisy". She reaffirmed the NCD's
contention that so-called stepchild adoption spelled "the
legitimisation of surrogate motherhood and donating sperms and
eggs". The NCD is at odds with its senior government partner,
the Democratic Party (PD) over the bill proposed by the PD's
Monica Cirinnà.
