The lagoon city of Venice was
brimming with excitement Thursday on the eve of a two-day visit
by United States' First Lady Michelle Obama.
Accompanied by her two daughters and her mother, Obama
visited Milan Expo 2015 this week as well as seeing such sites
as the city's famous Duomo and Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper.
Obama is scheduled to arrive at noon in Venice and from
there, she is also planning to visit the US military base in
Vicenza to meet soldiers and their families, including expectant
women and new mothers.
A round-table discussion on the issues facing military
families has been organized.
While in Venice, organizers of her visit say Obama may
visit the iconic Basilica of San Marco and the Ducal Palace.
Where she will stay remains a closely guarded secret, but
she is scheduled to leave shortly before noon on Sunday from
Venice's Marco Polo airport.
Event organizers say that residents of Venice and the
lagoon area are "very excited" that Obama and her daughters are
visiting.
