Premier Matteo Renzi said Tuesday he is confident his centre-left Democratic Party (PD) will still be Italy's top party after Sunday's elections in seven regions.
"Some matches will be very difficult and others I believe the PD will win handily," he said. "Come Monday the PD will still be the country's number one party". "The issue for me is not winning every region, the problem for me as premier is whether or not we reignite hope, whether we safeguard businesses who will place worker quality center stage again," he added.
