It is absolutely necessary to
promote a culture of lawfulness in Italy, anti-corruption chief
Raffaele Cantone said Thursday.
"This is an essential premise," the head of Italy's
anti-corruption authority told a forum on legality hosted by
ANSA.
"Young people must be made to understand that corruption
does not only damage business but also their future," Cantone
continued, adding that the "cancer of corruption" had been
underestimated for too long.
"It is not true that young people are disinterested in this
subject, they only need to be motivated," he concluded.
His comments came the day after the Italian parliamentary
anti-mafia commission approved a long-called-for anti-graft bill
with the backing of the Supreme Magistrates Council (CSM).
