Prosecutors in Sicily
investigating last weekend's boat tragedy said Thursday is was
"reasonable" to claim that "over 750 people" were on board the
fishing boat that sunk off the coast of Libya.
Accounts from the 28 survivors have also allowed
investigators to establish "the presence of Libyan personnel
identified as 'policemen' shortly before departure".
They allegedly received money, prosecutors said.
The incident caused dismay and outrage in Italy and beyond,
prompting EU leaders to step up efforts to address the growing
influx of migrants in the Mediterranean.
