An appeals court on Monday
upheld the acquittal of Abruzzo Governor Luciano D'Alfonso and
another 17 people on charges of taking kickbacks for contracts
in Pescara when the governor was mayor of the Adriatic port
city.
"Thank you judges but the regret for the interruption of an
administrative experience that was bearing so much fruit for
citizens remains," said D'Alfonso.
