Ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi on
Friday completed a year of court-ordered community service on
the Alzheimer's ward at a nursing home in the town of Cesano
Boscone, near Milan.
A court in April 2014 ordered the billionaire media mogul
to serve out the remaining year of a four-year sentence for a
370-million-euro tax fraud conviction at his Mediaset media
empire by doing at least four hours a week of community service.
"We did our duty," said the director of the institute run
by the Sacra Famiglia Foundation, Paolo Pigni.
"We said goodbye with a handshake".
The Foundation offers assistance and rehab to over 7,300
disabled and elderly people in its 15 institutes in Liguria,
Lombardy, and Piedmont.
It employs 1,950 people, and operates with the help of 840
volunteers.
