Forza Italia (FI) said Friday
that it could boycott the fourth and crucial vote for the next
Italian president. The political party led by ex-premier Silvio
Berlusconi said it would decide later in the day after the third
vote. Twice-daily voting is planned until a president is chosen,
but the fourth ballot, which requires a simple majority, is key.
The ruling Democratic Party (PD) meanwhile said it hopes to
"repair" ties after a rift sparked by the PD's choice of former
Christian Democrat Sergio Mattarella as presidential candidate.
