Milan Mayor Giuliano Pisapia
said Wednesday that although he receives a lot of hate-mail he
has declined an offer of police protection.
"Out of 800 letters a week I am sent, many are threats,"
said the mayor during a meeting organised by the retail
association Confcommercio.
There, Pisapia said authorities wanted him to accept police
protection but that he refused in order to send a signal to
Milan citizens.
"I am going to carry on, I want to go round town just like
my fellow citizens," said Pisapia.
