Probe-troubled politician
Luigi de Magistris officiated a wedding as his first official
act after being reinstated as Mayor of Naples on Friday.
Wearing the Italian flag, de Magistris conducted the
exchange of vows between Neapolitan writer Valeria Parrella and
film director David Iodice.
An administrative court judge on Thursday reinstated the
former headline-grabbing prosecutor turned leftist politician as
Naples mayor pending an appeal to Italy's top court
Thursday.
De Magistris denies all wrongdoing in an abuse-of-power
case stemming from his former career and dubbed the affair
"surreal".
De Magistris was suspended October 1 after receiving a
suspended 15-month sentence for abusing his power to order
unwarranted wiretaps as a public prosecutor.
A Campania court referred the case to the Constitutional
Court Wednesday.
