Business and transport across
Italy was hobbled on Friday due to a national 24-hour labor
strike organized by the Base Union of Italy (USB) against
Italian Premier Matteo Renzi's labor reforms.
Public transport suffered the most, with first estimates
putting strike participation at around 60% across the country,
with a full 100% in Naples.
Public offices such as city halls, schools, and health
offices also closed around the country due to the strike.
"When called to fight and strike, workers respond," said
national USB executive member Pierpaolo Leonardi.
