German Chancellor Angela
Merkel said Friday that she "appreciates very much the work of
Mario Draghi," the president of the European Central Bank (ECB).
She added that Draghi "does a great job for the eurozone".
Merkel spoke at a press conference at the conclusion of a
meeting of eurozone leaders where Draghi urged member States to
work collectively to keep the region's economy out of recession.
Merkel said she also appreciated "the independence of the ECB".
