Movement Senate whip Alberto Airola said Thursday his caucus
will ask Deputy Senate Speaker Maurizio Gasparri to step down
after he tweeted offensive remarks about an overweight teenager.
"Fewer drugs, more diet, in bad shape," Gasparri, who hails
from the center-right Forza Italia (FI) party of Silvio
Berlusconi, tweeted on October 20 at the teen, Maria Pia.
The deputy Senate speaker's remarks had come in response to
a tweet by the girl in defense of 23-year-old Italian rapper
Fedez.
