Italy will contribute up
to 50 million euros to the fight against the Ebola virus in West
Africa, Italian Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini said Monday
at a meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Luxembourg.
Along with Great Britain, Italy will also contribute 100
hospital beds and specialists from its Rome-based Lazzaro
Spallanzani Institute for Infectious Diseases.
As well, the EU will appoint an Ebola coordinator to
manage European and United Nations efforts to stamp out the
deadly epidemic, Mogherini said.
"We intervene with long-term work in affected areas, on the
medical, social and economic fronts," Mogherini said.
